Facebook launches another feature on Instagram- Instagram Reels
On Wednesday 5th August Facebook Introduced a new feature on Instagram called Instagram Reels which is meant to challenge Tiktok on short-form creative content video.
As they stated in a blog post, Instagram Reel is a new way to create and discover short, entertaining videos on Instagram.
This new feature will allow you to make short videos to share with friends or anyone on Instagram and will work like Tiktok. The feature allows you to record and edit 15-second multi-clip videos with audio effects and creative tools.
Reels can be shared on your feed or if you have a public account, you can make them available to the wider Instagram community through a new space in explorer that offers anyone chance to become a creator on Instagram and reach a global audience.
How to create Instagram Reels
Creating Reels is done on the Instagram camera where you’ll see a variety of creative editing tools to help you create your Reels. You can either use audio from the Instagram music library or you can choose to use your own original audio by recording a reel with it. Note that people can create Reels by using your original audio if you have a public account. AR effects, timer and countdown, align and speed options are also available in Instagram Reels. If you are familiar with Tiktok I bet Instagram Reels will be easier for you.
Reels can be recorded in a series of clips (one at a time), all at once, or using video uploads from your gallery. Record the first clip by pressing and holding the capture button. You’ll see a progress indicator at the top of the screen as you record. Stop recording to end each clip.
How to Share Reels
Reels can be shared to your followers and can also be discovered by a large audience on Explorer.
Instagram claims that they respect your privacy and states that you can either choose your Reel to be public or make it private to your friends and followers.
Reels can also be shared on your Instagram story, to your close friends and as a direct message where it will behave like a regular story and will not be shared to Reels in explorer.
How to watch Reels
Reels can be watched in Explore, a vertical feed customized for Reels where you can watch trending culture on Instagram. If you love a reel, you can easily like, comment or share it with your friends.
In the Explorer tab, you will also meet Reels with ‘Featured’ label which is chosen by Instagram to help you discover the original content.
Instagram states that Reel is not yet available to everyone, you may miss it on your Instagram app.
